Out of camera, One Click was beautifully shot by Director of Photography Noah Fallis on the the Alexa 35. It helps when you've got a great location at Mason Ranch, high production value wardrobe and props, and a cast that is absolutely stellar. To build upon what Noah shot, we knew the color had to do it justice. The direction we took was a modern, but old western feel. The rich yellows of the grass and leaves, the deep dense blue sky, and the almost sepia tone without veering into cliché, created a stunning look. Production can throw you in a different direction, so when thunderstorms developed, it was a great opportunity to lean into the contrast between the sunny grass and the deep dark clouds.
The music was an exciting part of the post process. Composer Ryan Northcott created several pieces, the crowning jewel being the theme for One Click. Heavily inspired by Ennio Morricone and the spaghetti westerns, the track amps up the climactic end of the film. Throughout the rest of the film, the softer violins, ethereal strings, and heart-pounding drums make the whole score a journey of many different levels. Have a listen.
