This film explores an actor's struggle to finish a self-tape audition while life's challenges swirl overhead. Filmed over two days, Director of Photography Ryan Northcott in collaboration with director Christopher Duthie envisioned each shot as a frame. Where a self-tape can only be one, each of life's challenges become a series of frames within the frame. It's a beautiful film with moments of great joy and profound sadness.
Self-Tape is...self-contained. With most of the film confined to Abigail's home, utilizing the space and letting it breathe was crucial to delivering the emotional story. Sound and Edit, by Ryan Northcott, was purposefully designed to allow the audience to feel her frustration and life-changing moments.
